§Agile is an improvement on the New New Product Development Game discovered by Takeuchi Hirotaka and Ikujiro Nonaka in January 1986 (Harvard Business School).

§Agile is an alternative way of software development, modified in February 2001 by a group of 17. Frustrated with the plan-driven method of S/W development the group hashed out The Agile Manifesto. The manifesto conjectures principles and values prescribing face-to-face interactions, functional product, customer collaboration and accepting change.

§Agile methods are a collection of different techniques (or practices) that share the same values and basic principles embodied in the Agile Manifesto.

Being Agile. The 9th Agile Survey 2014 noted being Agile can be challenging. Two of top five causes of Agile failure relate to company culture and philosophy. Core agile values rated 42%, plus lack of support for cultural transition. Survey shows about 44% of Agile projects failed due to inexperience with Agile.
